Welcome to LarryShort.com! There are many “Larry Shorts” in the USA, believe it or not (I once counted 17 in just the Seattle area alone), so I’m starting this page with a photo and “About me” section to let you know what makes me different from those other “Larry Shorts.”
About Me
I am, most importantly, a follower of Jesus. I revere the Bible as God’s word to us. Jesus is the Son of God, and God the Son, our creator and our savior. Because of His grace, I have faith that all eternity will be an adventure of following God and discovering what He has next for us.
Secondly, I am a man who loves his family. My wife Darlene and I have been married since August 10, 1979, and we have two adult children, Nathan and Amanda. They are each married to wonderful spouses. Nathan and Becky have given us four grand-dogs, and Amanda and Mike a beautiful granddaughter (Annabelle), along with a handful of cool pets.
Thirdly, I love and am committed to my church family. Darlene and I have attended Elim EV Free in Puyallup for more than 25 years, and serve our brothers and sisters there (and others in the community) in a variety of leadership capacities.
And fourth, we are retired! Darlene excelled at caring for people through nursing for more than 35 years, and I worked in communications (both marketing and internal) for more than 25 years for the Christian nonprofit World Vision. Before that I was a freelance writer and small businessman.
Now that we are retired, we are busier than ever, and loving every minute of it. I run a hobby organization (MushroomObsession.com) designed to teach people how to safely hunt for, collect, and prepare exotic (edible) mushrooms. In this capacity I travel a lot, having recently completed my fifth cross-country tour. I’ve continued to work to keep my brain sharp through writing, including my current work on a second biography and a second novel. And I also serve our church as the leader of our board of Deacons, a worship artist, and technology specialist.
The rest of this page will present links of interest and will work on unpacking details from what I’ve shared above. You can reach out to me any time for more info by emailing me using my full name @ Gmail.com.
