Ark … or Eden?
In part 2 of Apocalypse, Mitchell awakes to find himself slowly spiraling downward on the back of a giant bird, in a place which defies his ability to comprehend. It takes some time to get a grasp on his fantastic situation, but he eventually realizes that he is in what is known in the theoretical scientific literature as a “Dyson bubble” … an immense sphere surrounding a central star.
After he is deposited on land, he meets two new friends. They compare notes and share stories.
They also each discover they have a different agenda for exploring this, their amazing new home. Realizing this is a titanic dyson sphere, Mitchell feels compelled to make his way “down” through the shell and figure out “what’s out there.”
Liyana, on the other hand, who grew up in the forests near the coast of South Africa, has her eyes set up the 12 fantastic, immense trees that tower upward from 12 enormous islands in the curved ocean. She could see that they were full of all kinds of amazing life fluttering in their immense branches, with life-giving waterfalls flowing down from all upward directions.
And Fadi, finally, has set his sights higher still. The source of all those amazing waterfalls, and the destination to which those 12 immense trees reached, was a shining golden city suspended high above them, in the center of the great sphere. Surely that was the destination to which the God he had recently committed his way to, and perhaps even given his life for, was calling him.
Part 2 follows these three unlikely friends as they meet, compare notes, then separate on their journeys.
